My Sweet Little Sister...

Hello Dear Friends!

First of all, I would like to thank you so much for all of your prayers for my sweet grandmother. She seems to be doing alright, though the treatments make her feel very weak. I know that God is in control of the situation, and I am trusting in Him completely!

Today, I would like to share a few recent photographs I've taken of my darling little sister, Jessa! As most of you know, we adopted her from China in 2007, and she has been such a blessing in our family. She is almost four years old, and is a bundle of joy! I am so thankful to have her as my little sister!

Jessa in her Smart Glasses, as she calls them!

Jessa in her new apron that I sewed for her!

I embroidered Jessa's name on the pocket!

All dressed up, and ready to go to Church!

Too cute!

Jessa, I love you with all of my heart! Thank you for being such a wonderful sister!!

Many Blessings,

Prayer Request...

Hello Dear Friends,

My wonderful grandmother was recently diagnosed with acute leukemia. I would really appreciate your prayers as she is going through a harsh treatment called chemo-therapy. She is a strong Christian woman, who loves the Lord with all her heart. She and my grandfather have been married for 47 years. She is such a blessing in my life!
Thank you for your love and prayers, dear readers! I am completely trusting in God during this hard period of time...

"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths."
~ Proverbs 3:5-6 ~

God's Amazing Creation

Enjoy the photographs and Bible verses below!

The Heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament showeth his handiwork.

Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night showeth knowledge.

There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard.

Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun,

Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race.

His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.

The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.

The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes.

The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever: the judgements of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.

More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honey comb.

Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and keeping of them there is a great reward.

Who can understand his errors? Cleanse thou me from secret faults.

Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression.

Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer.

~ Psalm 19 ~

May we all remember to stay in God's precious sight and to always serve HIM with our hearts! Have a joyful day, filled with the Lord's abundant blessings!

Why Modesty Is So Important To Me...

{This post is a continuation of "The Desires" post, which I wrote in the month of May. If you have not read that post, I encourage you to click HERE and read it.}

The topic for my post today is on modesty; A subject that I enjoy pondering. Modesty is so important to me, especially in this generation. I feel as though the Lord has called me to dress in modest apparel for many reasons. Whenever I think of modesty, I think of two particular verses from God’s Word…

In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with braided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array.

But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.

~ 1 Timothy 2:9-10 ~

This Bible verse has really spoken to me throughout the past year. As I grow up to be a young woman, I realize more and more each day, that it is so important to shine my Godly light in this dark world. By dressing modestly, I feel a sense of obedience to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Obeying Him is my number one goal in life. Pleasing my Savior and knowing that I have followed His commands makes me so happy. I have a very cheerful heart when God comes to me and says… “Well done, child, well done!”

Another reason why modesty is so important to me is because when I dress in feminine and modest apparel, I feel that people can see more of my inner beauty, rather than my outer beauty. That is very comforting to me. I would much rather be recognized for having a good spirit, and not for other non-Godly reasons.

Not only do I wear mainly skirts because of the reasons above, but I also wear them for comfort. I feel very free and feminine in a skirt.

Before I say anything further, I would like to answer a question that some of you may be asking yourselves. You may be wondering how you can complete some activities in a skirt. Of course, some things require a pair of pants. To me, wearing a pair of loosely-fit pants is not being immodest. Although I would prefer to wear a long, flowing skirt, an activity like horseback riding is much easier in a pair of jeans. (Well, unless you prefer to ride side-saddle!) I just wanted to clear that up in case some of you were curious.

As for blouses, I prefer to wear something that covers quite well. Wearing a blouse with a higher top is what I try to aim for. I don’t want to have to worry about holding my top while bending over. To me, it is so much nicer not having to worry about these kinds of issues.

Well, I suppose I should come to a close now. I really enjoy discussing topics like this, and I hope that you were able to get something out of the words above.

Although I think dressing modestly is the right thing to do, you may disagree. God says in His word…

Maybe your time has not come yet… But I sure hope that God will speak to you on this very subject. Only you and God know what is right for your life!

Have a joyful day, and remember to follow the Lord with all your heart!

{I plan on taking one subject from my list of desires each week and talking in depth about that particular subject! I hope you enjoy reading them. My next subject will be on constantly observing God's creation!}

Summer With A Purpose: Week Six!

Hello Dear Friends!

I am amazed that it is already the end of July. This summer has gone by so quickly!
It's week six of Summer With a Purpose over at Miss Emily's blog, My Life Belongs To Him. If you are interested in joining in for the last few weeks, just click HERE!

This week has been quite relaxed, yet productive at the same time. Here are some of the things I've accomplished this week...

~Baking~

In my previous post, I shared several photographs with you. One of those photographs happened to be of the homemade oatmeal muffins I made. Today, I would like to share the recipe with you!

This recipe comes from the cookbook, "From the Kitchen of Two Sisters", one of my favorite Vegetarian cookbooks!

~Light Oatmeal Muffins~
Makes 1½ dozen muffins
Preparation Time: 15 minutes
Cooking Time: 20 minutes

Wet Ingredients:

2 cups rolled oats
3 cups rice milk or milk
2 eggs
2/3 cup honey
1/4 cup unsalted butter- melted

Dry Ingredients:

2 cups whole wheat pastry or spelt flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt

~Directions~

1. Combine the wet ingredients using a wire whisk.
2. In a separate bowl, mix the dry ingredients.
3. Add both mixtures together.
4. Pour the batter into greased muffin pans.
5. Bake at 400° for about 20 minutes.

Let me know if you make these! I would love to know how they turned out! I sure thought they were delicious!

I also made some homemade apple butter with a dear friend of mine this past week. I had a wonderful time making it, and it tastes scrumptious!

~Photography~
I shared some of my most recent photographs in my previous post. If you would like to see those, just click HERE.

~Lovely Fellowship~
This week, my dear mother and I were invited to a tea party, hosted by some dear friends. They decorated everything so beautifully!

Simply wonderful!

We had a delicious lunch, which was prepared by many loving hands. The tea tasted just lovely as well.

A beautiful teacup!

We had a small devotion, and then did some handwork. I enjoyed learning to crochet from a wonderful friend of mine! Thank you, dearest Emily!

Also, one of the hostesses is celebrating a birthday soon, so we all sang happy birthday to Miss Lauren!

Happy birthday, dear friend!

We had a delightful time together. I am so thankful for the many friendships God has given me!

~Embroidery~
I was able to embroider a bread towel for one of my dear friends this week.
I just love embroidering different things. I feel so blessed to have a sewing machine that embroiders. I hope to learn by hand sometime in the near future!

~Bible Reading~
Although I haven't focused on memorizing a Scripture this week, I have been thinking about the Proverbs 31 woman a lot. My goal is to be a wife and mother in the future, if the Lord so chooses. I pray each day that God would mold me and guide me throughout my teenage years... That He would help me in preparing to become a Proverbs 31 woman.
I am so thankful for His Promises and for His Word. I am immensely encouraged by what the Lord has to tell me in His Book!

I suppose this concludes week six of Summer With A Purpose here on my blog. Thank you so much for visiting my blog. I hope and pray that I've encouraged you today! Have a joyful day, filled with many summer blessings!
